FIFA is still deliberating on the proposed composition of a Normalisation Committee for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), with a final decision expected in the coming days as efforts continue to address the federation’s leadership crisis, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

A member of the FIFA delegation that recently visited Nigeria disclosed that no final decision had been reached on the committee, which is expected to oversee the administration of Nigerian football during the transition.

“No firm decision has been made,” the FIFA representative said, adding that the matter remained under internal consideration and an announcement would be made soon.

The crisis followed the reported mass resignation of NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, members of the federation’s executive committee and General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi in August 2026.

In response, FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) sent a joint delegation to Nigeria to meet football stakeholders and assess the situation surrounding the federation’s leadership.

The delegation subsequently returned to Zurich, Switzerland, where FIFA officials have continued discussions on the next steps for Nigerian football.

There had been expectations that FIFA would announce the membership of the proposed committee during its recent meetings, but no official confirmation has emerged.

The proposed Normalisation Committee is expected to help restore administrative stability, address outstanding governance concerns and establish a pathway towards the return of an elected NFF leadership.

Reports have suggested that the committee could begin its assignment in November 2026 and remain in place until May 2027. However, FIFA has yet to officially confirm the proposed timeline or the names of those who would serve on the committee.

The governing body's eventual decision is expected to clarify the next phase of the NFF leadership transition and outline the measures required to stabilise football administration in Nigeria.
