Andrade El Idolo wanted to prove at AEW WrestleDream 2026 that he was still the "Real Latino Man" by defending his AEW National Championship against Tommaso Ciampa, and after Ciampa's emotions got the best of him, Andrade left WrestleDream with his title in tact.

Both men went move for move, counter for counter in the early going, but it was Andrade gained the control by hitting the Three Amigos on the outside before returning to the ring for a Split-Legged Moonsault that gained a near fall. He had time to flirt at ringside but Andrade took too much time and took a knee to the face when he got caught up in the ropes, and when Ciampa went to the outside he too took a selfie, though he took one with his wife and daughter in the front row.

After failing to hit a Psycho Driver, Ciampa landed another knee, this time in the corner, and took a page out of Andrade's book and took his trunks off, which landed on the announce table. Once he rallied back, Andrade also took his pants off to reveal his own set of trunks but was caught with his pants down as Ciampa cut him off. Ciampa went for a Superplex but Andrade fought him off, and even with his pants around his ankles, landed a Moonsault for a two-count.

Andrade went for a Psycho Driver of his own but Ciampa tried to counter into a Sunset Flip Powerbomb, only for Andrade to roll through and land a pair of running knees for another two count. The champion went high risk again but was pushed to the outside by the challenger, who then proceeded to take liberties with Andrade's pants. With Ciampa preoccupied with Andrade's pants, the champion returned with a Spinning Back Elbow that earned another near fall, but Ciampa got his own near fall with a running knee.

A series of roll-ups led to a double down and after a strike exchange, Andrade hit the Dia de Los Muertos but Ciampa rolled to the outside. However, he was feigning injury as he used the cameraman as a distraction to lead to a Running Knee for another near fall, which led to Ciampa grabbing the title belt and a chair that referee Aubrey Edwards stopped him from using. While Edwards was distracted, Andrade hit the Widow's Bell on the title belt, and followed up with a DM to gain the win.
