Lisandro Martinez could leave Manchester United as Barcelona and Atletico Madrid monitor defender

Lisandro Martinez could depart Manchester United at the end of the current season, according to social media reports from transfer insider Ekrem Konur.

The Argentina defender has reportedly attracted interest from two leading La Liga clubs, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid set to compete for his signature.

Martinez could become available as a free agent because Manchester United are unlikely to activate the option to extend his contract. No transfer fee would therefore be required if the defender leaves once his current deal expires.

The 28-year-old joined Manchester United in the summer of 2022 and has since established himself as an important part of the club’s defensive options.

Transfermarkt values Martinez at 45 million euros, although his potential departure without a fee would make him an attractive target for both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

The reported interest from Spain leaves the defender’s future at Old Trafford uncertain as the season approaches its conclusion.
