Everton Face Stern Chelsea Test As Unbeaten Run Goes On The Line

Everton will face a difficult test of their unbeaten Premier League start when they host Chelsea, who have shown impressive attacking form under manager Xabi Alonso.

David Moyes’ men have recorded two wins and four draws in their opening six league matches.

Their latest outing ended in a 2-2 draw against Hull City after they fought back to take the lead but failed to hold on.

Everton are among only three teams yet to lose in the league this season.

The Toffees will draw confidence from their home form, having won three of their four league matches at home without conceding a goal.

Their only other home fixture ended in a draw.

They have also won six and drawn two of their last nine Premier League home meetings with Chelsea, including a 3-0 victory last season.

However, Chelsea’s attacking strength could pose a serious threat.

The Blues have scored 23 league goals this season and thrashed Bournemouth 5-1 last weekend.

Their defensive record remains a concern, though, as they have conceded 16 goals and gone 22 consecutive Premier League matches without a clean sheet, their longest such run since 1961.

Everton striker Thierno Barry could take advantage of those weaknesses.

He has scored in his last two matches, while nine of his last 10 Premier League goals have come in the second half.

Everton have also scored six of their eight league goals after the break.

Chelsea will seek to improve their away form after suffering both league defeats on the road this season.

Their last eight league matches have all produced more than two goals.
