On his role as a left winger:

He’s a player where it doesn’t really matter if he’s on the left or right. He has had a lot more minutes on the right side, but at the moment, the team needs him [on the left] and he has done very well.

On failing to score in the first half:

There have been other games as well where we haven’t scored in the first half, but we have played 11 competitive matches and won 10. Again, a variety of ways to win in many different contexts. We knew today if we didn’t score in the first 20, 30 minutes, we wouldn't face a different Forest. They are extremely well-coached, their shape is like a Christmas tree, you have no space to play. You have to be so neat and tidy, you have to otherwise generate a lot of chaos in the box whether that’s in open play or from set-pieces. We did a couple of times and created a couple of chances where we didn’t hit the target, that’s the difference. And the longer the game goes, we say ‘okay, now we have to play a different game’. Because the game becomes more dangerous for us, we take more risks as we should, but the players, especially occupying certain spaces to control those transitions, are going to be instrumental. At the end, I had the belief that the moment the physical level would drop, the spaces would be bigger, the timing more, and we would be more efficient. The finishers delivered, because the game changed. We had to suffer because there were two or three actions that were strange to witness, but required incredible actions not to concede a goal.

On Madueke feeling the love after the game:

He got the love, because he got a lot of stick in the dressing room for something we did a couple of days ago, and I’m so happy he did it because now he can give the stick back. But it shows how much they like him as well, and it was a gesture from them.

On Konsa and Gabriel’s defensive displays:

The win was not possible without them, because they have so much quality and physicality, having to constantly deal with what we predicted to be 50 balls in the air. I don’t know how many they had, but it would’ve been very close to that. And it’s not only that, it’s what happens after that ball and the consequences from that. To be on it constantly, every action delivered is very tough. When you think it’s done, Wood and Hudson-Odoi come in and they start to have a different problem. Now you are man-to-man with the two centre-backs. But that’s the Premier League, and the quality of it which makes it the best league in the world.

On Eze’s substitution for Madueke at half-time:

I wanted something else, and we needed a different sort of profile on the left-hand side. I’m here to make decisions. A few days ago, he played and scored a goal, and could have had two or three against Lille. He had some really good moments. Today was different because what the game required was different. We felt we had to change it and that’s what happened.

On Konsa’s tackle in second-half stoppage time:

Unbelievable. Ezri’s and Declan’s, I think we had another one - that showed spirit and was a really good example of how much we want to win.

On grinding out results:

I think it depends on the game and the way the opposition wants to play. Today was a different one to Lille, and will be extremely different to three days’ time against Bayern Munich, which will be 96 minutes man-to-man, and let’s go. But we adapt, learn, and try to make the margins bigger.

On how the players have responded to our defeat to Brighton:

I’m 100 percent happy with the way we have responded. We’ve had three wins after the Brighton defeat. Like I said, 11 games, 10 wins, after we’ve had 18 players coming back from the World Cup. I think we’re in a good place - we should always improve and can improve - and we’ll look to be the best version of ourselves and enjoy it a little bit, because this week we have a big one coming up.

On winning away at Aston Villa, Sunderland and Nottingham Forest having failed to do so last season:

It shows how difficult becoming a champion is and to expect a different kind of a game. It’s not the reality of the league, and certainly we don’t think that way. The level has gone up again, and I think we will have more and more surprises.
