Heat 1

In heat 1, Milligan, appearing for the second time at The Rogue Invitational, led from the first set of squats. Prevost, Tall and Muir following closely behind.

Throughout the workout Muir squatted with a low bar technique. Her powerlifting background set her up nicely for utilizing this method during the event.

Muir also competed in style, wearing her Scotland national football team away shirt, much to the joy of the home fans. Speegle squatted with great technique and consistency.

Paige Rodgers finished outside the time cap. She missed a rep and had to drop the bar. The rules of the event determined that athletes had to unload, and then re-rack and load the bar themselves.

The top five for heat 1 were Milliagan, Prevost, Muir, Fuliano, and Speegle.

Heat 2

In heat two Gazan and Horvath started fast. Sturt stayed with the pace and passed the American to race into second.

The Hungarian athlete looked confident again and continued to widen her lead. Lucy Campbell moved up into third position behind the Aussie.

Pro Tip: Horvath and Muir squatted with a low bar position. Sturt moved through the reps quickly with a high bar position. If you are tackling a CrossFit workout that involves back squatting, take the time to find out which technique is better for you personally.

Horvath won with a time of 05.35.37. Lucy Campbell finished in 05.54.83 and Migala rounded out the heat in third with 05.58.20.

Now Horvath is the proud owner of 14 event wins. In the post-event interview she looked confident and unfazed by the poor finish in event 1, telling the audience that she was “here to eat”.
