Tottenham star James Maddison sits at the top of the tree for a very impressive stat, which shows just what the attacking midfielder adds to Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

Many have opined over recent months that Maddison could be the missing piece in Tottenham’s attack, and the attacking midfielder proved just that in his first start in 18 months.

The 29-year-old scored what was arguably his best goal in a Spurs shirt so far, which meant that the Lilywhites took the lead in a Premier League game for the first time this season.

The attacking midfielder got almost 70 minutes under his belt and reminded everyone why he is one of the best in the Premier League when he is fit and firing.

Tottenham star James Maddison excels at scoring from outside the box

Maddison posted some outstanding individual numbers against Coventry, demonstrating why he could be the main creative fulcrum for De Zerbi’s side.

The 29-year-old’s goal in the 14th minute, while being spectacular, was not surprising, as the former Leicester man has made it a habit of scoring screamers across his Premier League career.

In fact, Squawka have revealed that no player has scored more goals from outside the box than Maddison since he made his Premier League debut in 2018.

The Spurs star has 21 goals from outside the area, two more than Kevin De Bruyne. Two Spurs legends, Heung-min Son and Harry Kane, feature in the list in 4th and 6th place, respectively.

Maddison says there is a lot more to come from him in a Spurs shirt

The England international has lost a huge chunk of his career at a time when he is supposed to be at the peak of his powers.

However, Maddison made it clear that he intends to achieve a lot more at Tottenham, admitting that he felt the love from the fans during his time off.

The 29-year-old said to Sky Sports Monday Night Football: “I said last year that I always said I belonged at Spurs. I had the feeling in the time I’ve missed out and the love they have shown me through the tough periods. I have so much more to give this club.”
