Real Sociedad routed Norwegian side Lillestrom 6-0 at the Åråsen Stadion during the third matchday of the UEFA Europa League, fueled by three assists from captain Mikel Oyarzabal and a dominant display of visiting efficiency.

Oyarzabal orchestrates six-goal European rout

Playing before 11,500 spectators in Norway, Real Sociedad established control through precise attacking sequences orchestrated by their captain. Mikel Oyarzabal delivered three assists during a first-half surge that left the hosts struggling to track runners in transition. Sergio Gómez opened the scoring in the 25th minute, meeting an advance from Oyarzabal with a cross-shot that deflected through a defender’s legs and past goalkeeper Dahlberg’s far post.

Just two minutes later, Gómez doubled the advantage. Following a build-up on the left flank involving Oyarzabal and Gómez, the captain used an autopase past his marker on the endline to slide a pass backward for Gómez to finish cleanly with his right foot.

Sucic and Gómez extend the first-half lead

The visiting pressure continued after a long clearance by Dahlberg led to a defensive recovery in midfield. Oyarzabal intercepted and filtered a precise pass to Luka Sucic, who unleashed a powerful high cross-shot into the net in the 33rd minute to claim the team’s third goal and Oyarzabal’s third assist of the night.

Lillestrom nearly responded early in the second period when Markus Nyheim drew a penalty after a foul by Jon Martín in the box. Lehne Olsen stepped up to take the spot-kick in the 47th minute, but Real Sociedad goalkeeper Unai Marrero guessed correctly and blocked the attempt with his feet. Olsen remained Lillestrom’s most active attacking outlet, later hitting a header just wide of the top corner and seeing teammate Ibrahimaj rattle the crossbar in the 62nd minute.

Late substitutes round out the scoring

Real Sociedad capitalized on defensive lapses to add three more goals after the hour mark. In the 64th minute, recently substituted Andri Guðjohnsen (Óskarsson) tapped in a low cross delivered across the six-yard box by Guedes following a long ball.

Sucic netted his second goal of the match in the 72nd minute, intercepting a loose pass from the Norwegian backline, shaking off a defender, and calmly beating Dahlberg in a one-on-one situation. Arsen Zakharyan capped the 6-0 victory in the 80th minute, gathering the ball at the top of the box, cutting inside, and curling an unstoppable left-footed strike into the top corner.

Referee Mohammed Al Emara cautioned Sarr in the 30th minute and Gabrielsen in the 52nd minute.
