Women's Under-19s suffer loss to Bristol City

Our Women’s Under-19s were beaten 1-0 by Bristol City in the Professional Game Academy (PGA) League on Wednesday afternoon.

Having suffered defeat to Chelsea in the opening game of the second phase of the competition, competing in Division One for the first time in the Academy’s programme, our youngsters rued a number of missed opportunities with the Robins edging us on a wet day at Hotspur Way.

The visitors broke the deadlock on 18 minutes when Kacy Batty capitalised on a moment of miscommunication in our backline and calmly slotted past Sophie Jackson to hand her side the lead.

We had chances to bring the scores level, and even win the game, with Eloise Summers-Mee, Grace Bellwood, Poppy Neill and Jhanaie Pierre all going close and testing goalkeeper Eliska Simpson throughout the 90 minutes, but we just couldn’t find the breakthrough and condemned us to back-to-back defeats to start the second phase.

With a number of injuries and players managing minutes with their respective dual registered clubs, Head Coach Matt Sharman welcomed four Under-16s into the matchday squad with all the players featuring in the clash at our Enfield training base.
