Shooting Stars assistant coach Ali Kandil says his side paid the price for failing to convert their first-half opportunities as Ikorodu City fought back to earn a 2-2 draw in their Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 10 meeting.
The Oluyole Warriors appeared on course for a notable away win at Mobolaji Johnson Arena after taking a two-goal lead through Taofeek Otaniyi and Desmond Ojietefian.
But Ikorodu City produced a second-half response to deny the visitors all three points, with Donald Obiajulu scoring twice to secure a share of the points for the hosts.
Kandil was left frustrated by the result, believing Shooting Stars could have settled the contest before the interval.
“That’s football; if you have few chances and you don’t take them, then you will regret it at the end of the day,” he said after the match.
“We should have been three or four goals up in the first half, but that’s football. We had to adjust to some injuries. It’s an away point, and we have to take that.”
Shooting Stars’ failure to preserve their advantage means they had to settle for a point despite their strong start and early control of the contest.
