Dutch football analyst Marciano Vink has informed that Ajax coach, Michel Sánchez, has a love-hate relationship with Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare, which could play a part in the signing of the Nigerian, who’s on a season-long loan from Wolves.
“Míchel was getting fed up with him. He was just shouting from the sidelines again. They have a sort of love-hate relationship,” he said on ESPN.
By his own account, Michel Sánchez has a very good relationship with the striker, but he is also bothered by Arokodare. That has to do with the way he applies pressure.
“I want him to do a bit more in that regard in these kinds of situations,” explained Míchel Sánchez. He expects much more work off the ball from the striker. “I like Tolu, but he shouldn’t lose energy. He needs to be involved in the game every moment.”
The Amsterdam crowd enjoys him, and teammates and opponents speak highly of him, but the Ajax head coach believes things need to improve significantly. Míchel Sánchez sometimes completely loses his temper on the sidelines when Arokodare does something he doesn’t like. And that happens regularly. As was the case on Sunday against Sparta (1-2 win). In the first half, in which Arokodare also found the net, the Spanish manager made it clear from the sidelines that he was fed up with his striker’s performance. Using hand gestures, he tried to make it clear to the Nigerian that things had to change.
