‘Let’s Not Get Carried Away Now,’ ‘Gonna Age Horribly’ — NBA Fans Mock Stephen Curry’s Defiant Warning Following Warriors’ Win Streak

On Saturday night, the Golden State Warriors outlasted the Orlando Magic 126-119 in overtime, extending their winning streak to seven. The team now has a 7-3 record.

It is a remarkable turnaround for a squad that opened the season 0-3. But what drew attention on social media wasn’t just the win itself; it was what Stephen Curry said after the final buzzer.

Not Everyone Was Convinced by Stephen Curry’s Remarks

In his postgame interview, Curry made it clear that the Warriors hadn’t forgotten how the outside world reacted during their rocky start.

“I just love the resiliency, attitude, and commitment from everybody. When you set foot on the floor, just play hard, and good things will happen. We don’t forget where people thought we were at the beginning of the year. So, it’s just a matter of continuing to build,” Curry said after the win.

The interview drew reactions on social media, and not everyone on social media was convinced by Curry’s remarks..

One social media user simply stated that this is still the beginning of the year. “It’s still the beginning of the year,” the user said.

During the postgame interview, Curry also touched on how difficult it is to ignore criticism, especially after losses. He acknowledged the natural urge to respond, since competitors hate losing.

But with experience, he and his teammates have learned that the only productive response is to tune all of that out and stay locked in.

“It’s hard not to hear it, but you don’t ever play into it. I know I’ve seen some videos with the towel over my head, staring into the distance trying to figure out what we need to do. People who have an existential crisis on those looks.”

“We hate losing, so you want to respond to all of that. You hear it, but we’ve been around long enough to know you’ve got to be able to block all that stuff out and just be who you are,” Curry said, per “95.7 The Game.”

Still, one user predicted that Curry’s comments could look awful if the Warriors end up in the 8-12 range rather than competing near the top of the Western Conference.

“This is gonna age horribly if they’re in the 8-12 seed range at the end of the year,” the user said.

On Saturday night, Curry finished with 41 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists in 36 minutes. He shot 13-of-19 from the field, including 5-of-10 from the 3-point range, while converting all 10 of his free throws.

However, even his impressive numbers failed to silence every critic. One X user pointed out that Golden State needed overtime against a depleted Magic team that was missing three starters.

“He had to go to OT with a team missing 3 starters… let’s not get carried away now,” the user wrote.

For now, Golden State has every reason to enjoy its winning streak. However, with a long season still ahead, the Warriors will have to keep delivering on the court if they want their early-season doubters to remain silent.
