The CAF Disciplinary Committee is scheduled to hold a video conference today to assess incidents from the CAF Champions League second preliminary-round first leg between Rangers International and MC Alger in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Video material relating to the reported events has been submitted to the Confederation of African Football and will form part of the committee’s investigation.
Representatives of both teams will be allowed to answer questions during the hearing before a ruling is made.
The investigation was prompted by security concerns and incidents said to have occurred during the first-leg fixture in Nigeria, with CAF examining the evidence available.
The disciplinary panel is due to decide whether the circumstances warrant action under CAF’s regulations.
With the tie still drawing close scrutiny, CAF’s proceedings are intended to clarify what happened during the match and establish whether any sanctions should be imposed.
