Former Galatasaray forward, Necati Ateş, has slammed Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen over his body language during Saturday afternoon's 1-0 win against Gençlerbirliği.
Osimhen played the entire ninety minutes but neither scored nor provided an assist for the first time this season.
During an appearance on the Spor Gecesi Digital YouTube channel, Ateş contended that the Nigeria international thrives on scoring goals and appears to display a different attitude when he fails to find the back of the net.
"I don't like Osimhen's body language. When Osimhen doesn't score, he switches to a different version of himself because he thrives on goals," Ateş was quoted as saying by Habersarikirmizi.
He further scrutinized the striker's tactical judgment in an instance where he possessed the opportunity to facilitate an unchallenged goal for Deniz Gül.
While acknowledging that the decision lacked deliberate intent, the former Galatasaray player asserted that the Nigerian international had made an incorrect decision.
"He didn't pass to Deniz Gül so he could score into an empty net. He didn't pass to Deniz, he passed to Batrakov. It wasn't intentional, but his choice was wrong," he added.
Notwithstanding the criticism directed at his demeanor, Osimhen has maintained his significance for Galatasaray, accumulating six goals and three assists since the campaign's commencement.
The Nigerian striker will seek to address the apprehensions regarding his body language and restore his exceptional performance in the forthcoming weeks as Galatasaray participates across multiple competitions.
