Kobie Turner prioritizing community efforts during rehab process

Despite being on injured reserve, Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman and team captain Kobie Turner has refused to let his injury impact his influence on the team. As he works through his rehabilitation process, Turner has remained an amazing teammate and community-minded individual, co-chairing the Rams' recent "Taste of the Rams" event.

The Athletics' Nate Atkins spoke with Turner during the festivities, which took place at SoFi Stadium. Turner spoke about the why behind his community work, while providing an update on his groin strain.

"I thought it was super important to show up," said Turner. "Doesn't hurt that the food is going to be really great as well. But it's just so important to get back into the community, and I've really wanted to focus on that this year after having some time to establish myself, to get acclimated to the life here, and I think it's just as important to step back into the community as much as you can and this was a great opportunity to do so."

Turner was then asked about his injury, stating that he's continuing the process and he has trust in the team's training staff. Turner doesn't have a timeline for a return, but he did share his mindset as he works back towards being in playing shape.

"I've taken it as a good time to just lock in on the small details, to fully trust in the process that the training staff has for me, and to really attack it with that same mindset that I'd attack any game week," added Turner.

Turner has to miss the next two games before he is eligible to return.
