Despite featuring for just four minutes this season, Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski still ranks as the third-fastest player in the Premier League.
Tottenham Hotspur welcomed Dejan Kulusevski back last weekend in their 3-1 win over Coventry City.
The Swede came on for the final five minutes and ended up playing ten minutes with added time, marking his first competitive appearance in over a year.
Speaking after his return, Kulusevski said: “It felt impossible so it was the most difficult it can be, but I had a feeling I was going to come back and play football so I just had to believe and that is just what I did.
“It seemed impossible – I had to tell my closest ones that it might not work out a couple of months ago. But in my heart I always knew it would work out so I kept working.
“Of course, ten hours every day when no one is watching, every day in the summer, also when everything was impossible, when everybody gave up, I never gave up. Because of this, that happened today. God gives me all the power, otherwise I cannot take credit for what I have done. I have not done it alone.”
Against Chelsea, the versatile midfielder was once again handed minutes as he continues to build match sharpness, coming on in the 89th minute and playing over five minutes after Spurs were given eight minutes of stoppage time.
Despite limited minutes on the pitch this season – and having not played for over 500 days – FotMob stats reveal that Kulusevski has already clocked the third-fastest speed in the Premier League.
That came in the clash against Chelsea, where he hit a top speed of 36.1 km/h – just 0.1 slower than Harvey Barnes in second (36.2 km/h) and 0.2 behind Pedro Neto, who leads the division.
It is an impressive feat, though not entirely surprising, as Kulusevski was well known back in 2025 for his immense ball carrying from deep, often riding challenges and driving Spurs up the pitch.
Spurs Web has been tracking Tottenham’s top speeds this season, with Omar Marmoush previously holding the record at 35.1 km/h, surpassing Savio’s 34.5 km/h.
However, Kulusevski’s latest exploits now make him outright the fastest player at Tottenham – achieved after just two cameo appearances off the bench.
| Player | Top Speed |
|---|---|
| Dejan Kulusevski | 36.1 km/h |
| Omar Marmoush | 35.1 km/h |
| Savio | 34.5 km/h |
| Sandro Tonali | 34.2 km/h |
| Andy Robertson | 34.0 km/h |
| Destiny Udogie | 33.9 km/h |
While there were concerns over whether the midfielder would ever return to his old self, the early signs look promising.
