Nigerian rapper and entertainer Lanre eLDee Dabiri has announced his decision to stop supporting English football club Manchester United, bringing an end to a long-standing relationship with the Premier League giants.
Dabiri, popularly known as eLDee, made the announcement in a farewell letter shared on social media on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, in which he reflected on his years of supporting the club through its victories and difficult moments.
In the letter addressed to the Manchester United family, the entertainer said he had decided to walk away from the club, expressing appreciation for the memories, passion and experiences associated with his time as a supporter.
He wrote that his decision was not driven by anger but by gratitude for the role Manchester United had played in his life over the years.
“For many years, I stood by this club through the highs and lows, through the victories and the heartbreaks,” he stated.
“I gave my time, my energy, my emotions, and my unwavering support. But today, I choose to walk away — not with anger, but with appreciation for the memories, the passion, and the role this club has played in my life.”
The former Manchester United supporter acknowledged the club’s rich history, loyal fan base and enduring legacy, while wishing the players, management and other members of the United family success in their future endeavours.
He also expressed gratitude for the memories he had accumulated during his years of following the club.
“Thank you for the memories. Good luck, Manchester United. Once a Red, Always a Red — in spirit,” he added.
The announcement comes following the club’s disappointing run of results, including a 4-1 defeat to Como in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 and also amid United’s struggles in the Premier League, where their position on the table has raised concerns among supporters.
For many football enthusiasts, supporting a club goes beyond watching matches. It often becomes part of their identity, with victories bringing excitement and defeats sometimes leaving lasting disappointment.
Dabiri’s farewell letter offers a glimpse into that relationship, presenting his decision as the conclusion of a significant chapter in his football-supporting journey.
Whether the entertainer’s announcement marks a permanent break from Manchester United or a moment of frustration remains unclear.
