Benin City, the Edo State capital, is set to witness an exciting sporting spectacle as Kadiri Eseose Silva and her team prepare to embark on a 26-hour cheerleading marathon in an ambitious attempt to secure a place in the Guinness World Records.

The initiative, tagged “Longest Cheerleading Marathon: 26 Hours Sports Activities,” is being promoted in collaboration with Fashion Junkie Pre-Event and The City’s Inter-House Sport, bringing together sports, entertainment, creativity and youth participation in a historic undertaking.

The planned marathon seeks to showcase endurance, teamwork, physical fitness and the determination of young Nigerians to push boundaries while attracting international attention to Benin City.

Beyond the pursuit of a world record, the initiative is expected to provide a platform for promoting cheerleading as a sporting activity, encouraging greater youth involvement in recreational activities and demonstrating the importance of discipline, resilience and collaboration.

The organisers are positioning the marathon as more than an endurance challenge, with the 26-hour exercise expected to celebrate the energy, creativity and sporting potential of young people.

The event also comes amid growing enthusiasm among Nigerians for Guinness World Records attempts across different fields, including sports, entertainment, culinary arts and other creative endeavours.

If successfully completed and subsequently verified by Guinness World Records, the attempt could become another significant achievement for Nigeria’s growing community of record-breaking enthusiasts.

For a better society
