It's common knowledge that Cristiano Ronaldo is not short of confidence in himself but his latest actions are up there with some of the most egotistical moments from the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
After walking out on the Portugal national team amid a bitter fall-out with manager Jorge Jesus, Ronaldo has been handed his official punishment by the Portuguese Football Federation.
Although he apologised for his actions, it was decided that Ronaldo would still face disciplinary proceedings in the form of a 30-day suspension and a tiny fine of €255 (£215).
Remarkably, it's emerged that as part of his response to the charge that Ronaldo submitted a 2,000 word statement to the Portugal FA .
Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports also reported that Ronaldo was asked to provide evidence that would be used as mitigating circumstances and he proceeded to send over his CV - with the document containing every single trophy he's won in the last 24 years.
It was a classic Ronaldo move and one that is not too dissimilar to the type of behaviour he has become known for. While he has backed up his arrogance with an incredible career of goals and trophies, there have been plenty of moments where his ego was on the extreme side.
With that being said, SPORTbible has looked at 10 other egotistical moments from his career.
We start with a recent one relating to his Portugal fall-out, with Ronaldo revealing an eight-point message he signed off for Jesus to speak on in a press conference.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Ronaldo called for Jesus to acknowledge his achievements as a player, his importance to the team and stresses that he still wants him as part of his plans.
However, the most incredible detail was a line which basically compared him to Pele and Maradona.
Jesus was poised to say, “I made a mistake by putting someone of the stature of Pelé or Maradona on to warm up and then not putting him in the game" but annoyed Ronaldo by not sticking to the plan.
Ronaldo likes an Instagram statement almost as much as he enjoys scoring goals. And one of his best and most memorable came back in 2021. In the post delivered to his millions of followers, Ronaldo wrote: "2021 is coming to an end and it was far from being an easy year, despite my 47 goals scored across all competitions.”
Ronaldo spoke about his trophies at Juventus and said he was "not happy with what we are achieving in Man United" in his Happy New Year post.
He had to let everyone know how many goals he scored in the calendar year.
His thirst for scoring goals is incredibly impressive, to the point that Ronaldo once effectively tackled a teammate as he tried to score.
Playing for Real Madrid against Osasuna in 2012, Gonzalo Higuaín rounded the goalkeeper and looked destined to find the net.
But Ronaldo approached and tried to take the ball off him, with Higuaín tripping up and falling to floor as they ball ran out of play.
Ronaldo has spoken about not wanting to become a manager when he eventually hangs up his boots. But he has basically been Portugal manager for one game - the Euro 2016 final in Paris.
Ronaldo went off with a knee injury in the first half following a Dimitri Payet challenge and was visibly emotional.
But his adrenaline led to him standing on the touchline in the technical area, undermining Fernando Santos as Portugal won in extra time thanks to Eder's strike.
He dropped to the floor when the final whistle sounded after a serious main character showing.
Vain is often a word used to describe Ronaldo but he definitely taps into it. In 2011, Ronaldo was jeered by Dinamo Zagreb fans in a Champions League clash and have a typically hilarious explanation for why he received such a reaction.
He said: “It’s surely because I’m good-looking, rich and a great footballer. They’re jealous of me. I don’t have any other explanation.”
Another remarkable Ronaldo moment came in 2015 when he appeared to be absolutely furious with Álvaro Arbeloa scoring for Real against Almeria.
Arbeloa, now manager of Fulham, scored his first league goal in five years - bagging the third goal in a 3-0 win.
Ronaldo was waiting for a tap-in that didn't arrive as Arbeloa got in before him.
Having failed to score for a third game in a row, Ronaldo was furious and booted the ball into the empty net in anger before shaking his head.
Arbeloa said that Ronaldo's behaviour "didn't bother me" and admitted the striker is "just hungry to score".
Ronaldo's row with Jesus has similarities to his bust-up with Erik ten Hag, which stemmed from him refusing to come on as a substitute in a game against Spurs.
He walked down the tunnel in the 89th minute of the 2-0 victory, with Ten Hag confirming he had refused to come on.
He was dropped from the match-day squad against Chelsea and though he did play a further two times, his contract was terminated by mutual consent just over a month later.
In a new interview with The Athletic, Ten Hag said Ronaldo "let the team down, and he let me down, because we planned with him".
Ronaldo had previously ripped into Ten Hag in an bombshell interview with Piers Morgan where he said he did not respect the Dutchman.
Ronaldo's self-belief is what has got him to the very top and he has never hidden his confidence. In a 2017 France Football after matching Lionel Messi's Ballon d'Or tally, he spoke about just how highly he rates himself - claiming that he has "never seen anyone better than me" and that there is "no player more complete".
Ronaldo claimed: “I respect everyone’s preferences, but I’ve never seen anyone better than me. I have always thought that. No footballer can do the things I can. There’s no player more complete than me.
“I play well with both feet, I’m quick, powerful, good with the head, I score goals, I make assists. There are guys who prefer Neymar or (Lionel) Messi. But I tell you: there’s no-one more complete than me.
“No one has won as many individual trophies as me. And I’m not speaking just of the Ballon d’Or. That says something, doesn’t it? It’s not just a result of the work I do in the gym, like some people think. It’s the sum of many things."
