Roll Tide Wire staff predictions for Alabama vs. LSU in Week 10 clash

On Saturday afternoon, the Alabama Crimson Tide are set to travel for a huge road game against LSU inside one of the toughest road environments in college football, Tiger Stadium.

A long-time SEC rivalry that has seen Alabama win the last three meetings since 2023, the Crimson Tide and Tigers both enter this latest showdown sitting at 6-2 on the season with a pair of losses in conference play. Both also rank within the top 15 of the first College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings, with Alabama sitting at No. 5, followed by LSU at No. 14.

Speaking of the CFP, there is reason to believe that this is a must-win for both teams due to already owning a pair of losses this season. As for whichever team wins, the result would provide a massive boost to that respective team's CFP resume, while there is a chance a third loss wouldn't be detrimental for the others' postseason chances, but it will undoubtedly put that team in a position they do not want to be in entering Week 11.

A rivalry matchup loaded with potential storylines, follow along as the Roll Tide Wire staff make their predictions for Saturday's top 15 showdown in Baton Rouge.

Matt Melton's prediction: Alabama 31, LSU 33

I have honestly gone back-and-forth on the outcome of this game for two weeks now, and I will ultimately settle on Alabama leaving Baton Rouge on Saturday night with a close loss as the result of a late LSU score. It's hard to look past the Crimson Tide's performance the last time we saw them on the road in a similar environment, and I believe Alabama will face some of those same challenges Saturday at Tiger Stadium, such as LSU's talented pass rush.

However, I do think Alabama will ultimately show improvement in some of those same areas, and past Kalen DeBoer teams have surprised us in similar situations before, most notably that 42-13 rout just two years ago in Baton Rouge where Tiger Stadium started emptying in the third quarter. I think this LSU team is better than that one though, and with the unknown still remaining surrounding Alabama's multiple injured starters, give me LSU close.

Steve Holley's prediction: Alabama 24, LSU 35

Which version of Kalen DeBoer Alabama shows up on the road Saturday? If it's the team we saw two years ago at Tiger Stadium, or even in the second half of Alabama's road trip to Lexington against a team that's currently on track to reach the SEC title game and College Football Playoff, the Tide should be in good shape. If it's the team we saw in Knoxville just three weeks earlier, Alabama is in trouble.

Unfortunately, Alabama still has a lot of the same nagging injury concerns. LSU looks to be clicking on all cylinders, the Tigers' only losses have both been on the final play, and everyone from Lane Kiffin to LSU's administration, their fans and players have had this game circled virtually since Kiffin took the job and finalized his roster. Alabama leaves this one busted flat in Baton Rouge.

Elliot Reeder's prediction: Alabama 31, LSU 34

This game is basically a toss-up for me. Alabama does not look to be quite healthy with several key players still banged up and questionable, but LSU is also potentially still going to be without Whit Weeks who is doubtful. The game is in Tiger Stadium, but is also not a night game.

This game is a matchup of two of the top three scoring offenses in the SEC, and I think both offenses will have success. I think Alabama will be able to force a turnover or two from Sam Leavitt, but I think the good side of his play will be enough for the Tigers to pick up the big win. I also expect LSU's pass-rush to make a big impact.
