MANCHESTER, England: Manchester United are reportedly facing another dressing-room controversy after manager Michael Carrick allegedly lost his temper with captain Bruno Fernandes following the club’s humiliating 3–0 Premier League defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

According to a post attributed to football journalist David Ornstein, tensions boiled over immediately after the final whistle, with defender Lisandro Martínez allegedly stepping in to support Carrick during a heated exchange with Fernandes.

The post claims that Martínez directed an insult at Fernandes, allegedly shouting: “You dirty little rat, always moaning!”

Fernandes reportedly fired back with an equally confrontational response: “I’ve seen Under-16s win more headers than you, little boy!”

The alleged exchange paints a picture of growing frustration inside the United dressing room following another damaging result.

United’s Problems Extend Beyond the Pitch

The reported incident comes amid mounting pressure on Carrick following United’s disappointing run of results and growing scrutiny of the manager’s decisions.

Fernandes had already attracted attention after publicly criticising the team’s tactics following their 4–1 Champions League defeat to Como. Carrick subsequently left the United captain on the bench for the Bournemouth match, explaining that the decision was based on footballing reasons.

Bournemouth took full advantage of United’s struggles, scoring through Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson to secure a convincing 3–0 victory.

Questions Over United’s Dressing-Room Unity

If the reported confrontation is accurate, it would add another troubling dimension to United’s problems, with disagreements between senior players and the coaching staff threatening to overshadow matters on the pitch.

However, the specific exchange of insults described in the social media post has not been independently corroborated by the sources reviewed by Nigfooty Sports News. The allegations should therefore be understood as claims attributed to the post, rather than independently established facts.

United now face increasing pressure to restore stability, improve results and demonstrate that the squad remains united behind its manager.
