Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed his determination to maintain his impressive goal-scoring form after making Turkish football history with Bursaspor.

The Nigerian striker scored twice and provided an assist as Bursaspor defeated Muğlaspor 3-0 away from home on Thursday, extending his scoring streak to 10 consecutive matches in the Turkish First League.

After a goalless first half, Iheanacho opened the scoring in the 58th minute following an assist from Halil Akbunar.

He doubled Bursaspor’s advantage in the 79th minute before setting up Hüseyin Maldar to complete the victory four minutes later.

Reflecting on the team’s performance, Iheanacho explained that Bursaspor had to work hard before taking control after the interval.

“It was a great performance, especially in the second half. It was difficult in the first half, but we controlled the game very well in the second half and scored the goals.” he told beIN SPORTS.

“We’re happy to win. They are a strong side, and we won away from home today, so we’re really happy.”

The victory strengthened Bursaspor’s position in the league, with the team moving to second place on 22 points.

Iheanacho also expressed satisfaction with his individual contribution and outlined his ambition to help the club collect more points.

“I’m happy with my performance as well, helping the team move up the table. We’re now second in the league, so we hope to get more points.

“Hopefully, the goals will keep coming, and at the end, we will crown our efforts with victory,” he added.

Iheanacho’s latest brace took his tally to 14 goals and three assists in 10 appearances this season.

His 10-match scoring streak also surpassed the previous nine-game runs recorded by Turkish football legends Metin Oktay and Saffet Sancaklı.
