FIFA U-15 World Cup: Future Eagles beat Cyprus 2-1 to secure first win

Nigeria’s Future Eagles on Monday won their first match in the first edition of the 2026 FIFA Under-15 World Cup and Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The Nigerian team came from a goal down to beat Cyprus 2-1.

Cyprus took the lead with a 12th-minute goal by Georgios Christodoulou, but Wisdom Oche drew level for Nigeria in the 17th minute, before Timothy Ijach made it two for Nigeria in the 26th minute.

The result ended Nigeria’s winless run after three consecutive draws against South Sudan, Jordan, and The Gambia earlier in the tournament.

Nigeria drew 3-3 with South Sudan, 2-2 with Jordan, and 3-3 with The Gambia.

The Future Eagles will play Pakistan later on Monday.
