Ikorodu City Fight Back to Hold Shooting Stars in 2-2 SouthWest Derby

Ikorodu City came from two goals down to hold Shooting Stars to a 2-2 draw in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) South-West derby at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Sunday.

Shooting Stars took the lead through Taofeek Otaniyi in the third minute before Desmond Ojietefian doubled their advantage in the 36th minute.

However, Ikorodu City, popularly known as the Oga Boys, fought back, with Donald Obiajulu pulling one goal back in the 44th minute before completing his brace in the 83rd minute to earn the hosts a point.

The draw ended Shooting Stars’ run of four consecutive away defeats in the 2026/27 NPFL season, earning them their first away point of the campaign. Their previous away draw was against Kwara United on November 23, 2025, 336 days before Sunday’s encounter.

In their previous meetings, Ikorodu City defeated Shooting Stars 1-0 in January 2026, while their September 2025 encounter ended in a 1-1 draw. The sides also played out a goalless draw in April 2025.

Both teams will meet again on March 14, 2027, when Shooting Stars host Ikorodu City at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
