Seattle Seahawks kicker Jason Myers had a down performance in the team’s 34-17 loss to the Chicago Bears last week. Myers struggled to capitalize on his scoring opportunities, finishing the contest with just three points.
Myers converted 1-2 field-goal attempts, connecting from 27 yards out, while missing his lone extra-point attempt. His 50-percent field-goal conversion rate marked an uncharacteristically poor outing for the Seattle kicker.
The veteran Myers' successful field goal came early in the second quarter, which cut Chicago's early 7-0 advantage to 7-3. The three points briefly brought Seattle closer before the Bears extended their lead before the end of the half. He had a 33-yard field goal blocked early in the fourth quarter, which prevented the Seahawks from narrowing the score to 20-12 in favor of the Bears, and his missed extra point at the end of the second quarter also prevented the Seahawks from getting on the board more.
Myers will look to rebound when Seattle hosts the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9. The game will present Myers with an opportunity to get back on track, particularly if Seattle's offense generates sustained drives. Arizona has already faced Myers once this season and saw him convert his lone field goal attempt and go 4-4 on extra point attempts in Week 2. However, with Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold ruled out and Drew Lock expected to start, offensive consistency may become a concern.
In the event that Seattle encounter difficulties finishing drives, Myers may find himself with additional field-goal opportunities. A stronger performance will provide a welcomed response for the team after his disappointing showing against Chicago.
