Despite playing on a minutes restriction to begin the 2026-27 season, Stephen Curry has been incredible, averaging 30 points for the first time since the 2020-21 season in his first six contests. Curry's strongest output thus far was a 44-point game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, where the former Davidson product added eight rebounds, six assists and two steals. Speaking on Curry's dominance during his age 38 season, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr had only one comparison in mind.
"Honestly, it really does remind me of what it was like to play with Michael Jordan back in the day. Every single night you just are amazed, and you marvel at what he’s capable of doing no matter what the defense does, but also just the longevity of it. To see night after night, defenses doing everything possible to slow Steph down like they did with Michael, and yet the love for the game, the competitiveness, the passion, the desire to put on a show for the fans—there are such great comparisons to be made there."
Now having made 1,075 appearances, Curry surpassed Jordan (1,072) in games played earlier this season. Looking ahead, Curry and the Warriors will host Klay Thompson and the Miami Heat Thursday night.
