Updated NBA Cup Group B standings after Sixers fall to Cavaliers

The Philadelphia 76ers took a tough loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday as they fell 119-95 on the road. The loss dropped the Sixers to 1-1 in Group B play and their hopes of advancing to the knockout rounds took a big hit in the process.

Jaylen Brown, VJ Edgecombe, and Tyrese Maxey were able to put together decent games against the Cavs, but Joel Embiid and LeBron James combined to shoot 3-for-21 as it was a struggle for the two MVPs to get into the flow of the game. Now, the Sixers will need to earn some big wins in their final group stage games to have a shot at advancing.

Here is a look at the Group B standings following the loss to the Cavaliers:

Nov. 7 Group B standings

  1. Cleveland Cavaliers 1-0 +24 point differential

  2. Miami Heat 1-0 +20 point differential

  3. Philadelphia 76ers 1-1 -19 point differential

  4. New York Knicks 0-1 -5 point differential

  5. Indiana Pacers 0-1 -20 point differential

Point differential is a big deal in the group stage as it essentially decides who wins each group. The Sixers entered the contest with the Cavaliers in a good position, but because they lost by 24, they are now in a tough spot heading into the final Group B games.
