LaLiga Table After Sunday Matches

According to reports on Sunday, October 25, 2026, the Spanish La Liga title race became more competitive following Real Madrid's 2-1 victory over Barcelona in El Clasico, as the result reduced Barcelona's advantage at the top of the standings.

Kylian Mbappe was Real Madrid's match-winner, scoring twice to help his team claim all three points at Spotify Camp Nou. Barcelona responded through Raphinha in the second half, but Mbappe's late goal secured the victory for the visitors.

The result was one of the biggest talking points from Sunday's fixtures, with Real Madrid moving closer to Barcelona in the championship race.

Barcelona remain at the summit with 27 points from 10 matches, having recorded nine victories and one defeat. Despite losing their unbeaten record, the Catalan giants retain a two-point advantage over Atletico Madrid, who occupy second position with 25 points from 10 games. Real Madrid are third with 24 points after recording eight wins and two defeats.

Real Betis occupy fourth position with 20 points, while Real Sociedad are fifth with 19 points. Sevilla sit sixth with 14 points from nine matches, ahead of Alaves, Athletic Club, Celta Vigo and Villarreal, who each have 12 points.

Deportivo La Coruna occupy 11th position with 11 points, level with Osasuna and Racing Santander. Levante and Elche have 10 points apiece, while Rayo Vallecano and Getafe are on nine points each.

Espanyol occupy 18th position with eight points, placing them in the relegation zone alongside Valencia and Malaga. Valencia have six points, while Malaga remain bottom of the table with five points after 10 matches.

Sunday's matches also produced several other notable results. Athletic Club recorded a convincing 4-0 victory over Getafe, while Real Sociedad defeated Levante 2-1. Celta Vigo and Real Betis played out a goalless draw.

Those results helped shape the standings before the conclusion of the 10th round, with Sevilla scheduled to face Osasuna on Monday, October 26.

The biggest talking point, however, remains Real Madrid's victory at Camp Nou. Mbappe's double demonstrated his importance to the team and gave Madrid renewed confidence in their pursuit of the championship.

Barcelona will now need to respond in their next league fixture against Alaves on October 31, while Real Madrid are scheduled to face Racing Santander on November 1.

With Atletico Madrid also maintaining pressure on the leading pair, the battle for the La Liga title is becoming increasingly competitive. Barcelona remain in control of the standings, but their defeat to Real Madrid has given their rivals renewed hope of taking the top position in the coming weeks.
