According to a report by BBC Sport on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the UEFA Champions League league-phase standings have shifted following a series of exciting fixtures played on Tuesday and Wednesday, with Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and other European clubs continuing their push for qualification to the knockout stages.
Arsenal earned a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, while Real Madrid recorded an impressive 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig to strengthen their position in the competition.
Manchester United endured a disappointing evening, suffering a 4-1 defeat against Como. Galatasaray also produced an impressive performance by beating Lille 4-2, while Aston Villa defeated Viking 3-1 and Club Brugge secured a convincing 3-0 win over Lens.
Elsewhere, Inter claimed a narrow 1-0 victory against Shakhtar Donetsk, Real Betis defeated Feyenoord by the same scoreline, and LASK recorded a 3-2 win over Sporting CP.
Paris Saint-Germain remain among the leading contenders after winning all three of their opening matches, including a 4-2 triumph over Barcelona. Liverpool have also collected maximum points from their first three games, maintaining a perfect record in the league phase.
Real Madrid moved to nine points following their victory over Leipzig, while Arsenal increased their tally to seven points after sharing the spoils with Bayern Munich.
Manchester United, meanwhile, have collected just three points from their opening three matches. After suffering defeats against Atletico Madrid and Como, the English side will need to improve their results in the upcoming fixtures to strengthen their chances of progressing.
The league phase will continue in November, with teams competing for places in the next round. Under the Champions League format, the top eight clubs in the final standings qualify directly for the round of 16, while teams finishing between ninth and 24th enter the knockout-phase play-offs.
The 12 teams finishing at the bottom of the table will be eliminated from the competition, making every remaining fixture important for clubs hoping to extend their European campaigns.
