According to a report by Football London on Saturday October 17, 2026, Victor Osimhen has seen his market value drop by £10 million amid reports of Arsenal's previous interest in signing the Galatasaray striker, with the Gunners potentially considering a fresh approach ahead of the January transfer window.
The Nigeria international has continued to impress in Turkey, recording nine goal contributions in five league appearances this season. Despite his impressive performances, his latest valuation on Transfermarkt has fallen from £65 million (€75 million) to £55 million (€65 million).
The development could attract renewed attention from Arsenal, who have monitored Osimhen for several years and reportedly held discussions over a potential transfer during the summer window.
Osimhen first emerged as a target for the north London club in 2024, when he was still playing for Napoli. However, Arsenal reportedly decided against pursuing a deal because of the Italian club's substantial financial demands, which were said to exceed £100 million.
The striker eventually moved to Galatasaray after his successful spell in Naples, where he established himself as one of Europe's most prolific centre-forwards.
During four seasons with Napoli, Osimhen scored 76 goals and provided 18 assists, helping the club win the Serie A title during the 2022/23 campaign. His performances earned him a reputation as a powerful and clinical striker capable of making a difference at the highest level.
His impact has continued in Turkey, where he has registered 84 goal contributions in 80 appearances for Galatasaray. Those numbers underline his importance to the Turkish champions and explain why his name continues to attract attention from major European clubs.
According to reports cited by Football London, Arsenal held talks with Galatasaray over a possible swap deal during the summer transfer window. The discussions reportedly involved Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri, with the Turkish club showing interest in both players.
However, the proposed arrangement has become more complicated following their departures from Arsenal.
Martinelli joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal in a deal reportedly worth £55.7 million, while Nwaneri moved to Borussia Dortmund on loan for the 2026/27 season. Their exits mean the players involved in the reported swap discussions are no longer available to facilitate the arrangement.
Consequently, Arsenal would need to consider alternative options if they decided to pursue Osimhen in a future transfer window.
The striker's reduced market valuation could make him a more attractive proposition, although it does not necessarily mean Galatasaray would be willing to sell him for £55 million. The Turkish club would have its own valuation of the player, and any potential deal would depend on negotiations between the two sides.
Arsenal's current attacking situation could also influence their transfer plans. Viktor Gyokeres has struggled to find consistent form at the beginning of the season, while Kai Havertz has continued to experience injury problems.
Those concerns could encourage Mikel Arteta to explore additional attacking options as the campaign progresses, particularly if Arsenal believe they need greater consistency in front of goal to maintain their challenge for major honours.
Osimhen would offer a different profile to Arsenal's existing forwards, combining physical strength, intelligent movement, aerial ability and a proven goalscoring record. His presence could provide Arteta with another option against opponents who defend deep and make it difficult for Arsenal to create clear opportunities.
Nevertheless, there has been no confirmation that Arsenal are preparing a formal January bid for the Nigerian striker. The latest valuation change and the previously reported transfer discussions have renewed speculation, but they do not establish that negotiations are currently taking place.
