Real Madrid midfielder’s situation has not changed despite signs of promise in international break

According to a report by Madrid Universal published on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Eduardo Camavinga continues to face uncertainty at Real Madrid despite delivering encouraging performances for France during the recent international break. The midfielder had hoped his displays on international duty would strengthen his position and help him secure more regular playing time under manager José Mourinho.

Camavinga was given an opportunity to impress while representing France under national team manager Zinedine Zidane. He featured for 204 minutes across four matches, including a starting role in victories against Belgium. His involvement demonstrated his readiness to contribute at a high level and raised expectations that he would return to Madrid with renewed confidence.

However, his performances for France have reportedly done little to change his situation at the Spanish club. The 23-year-old remains short of regular opportunities, leaving questions about his place in Mourinho's plans as the season progresses.

Before the international break, Camavinga had recorded only two starts in Real Madrid's opening seven matches. His situation has reportedly become more frustrating since his return, as he has accumulated just 25 minutes of action across the club's last three games. Such limited involvement has made it difficult for him to establish momentum and demonstrate his abilities consistently.

Competition in Madrid's midfield has also contributed to his challenges. Federico Valverde, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Arda Güler, Jude Bellingham and Bernardo Silva are reportedly competing for positions ahead of him in the team's selection hierarchy. With several talented players available, securing a regular starting place has become increasingly difficult.

Camavinga possesses qualities that could benefit Madrid, including energy, defensive commitment and the ability to carry the ball through midfield. These attributes make his limited playing time particularly noteworthy, especially considering the demands of competing across multiple competitions.

Despite his difficulties, the French international was reportedly unwilling to leave Real Madrid during the summer transfer window. Nevertheless, continued frustration could eventually force him to reconsider his options if his circumstances remain unchanged.

The possibility of Madrid recruiting another midfielder could create further uncertainty about his future. For now, Camavinga must use every opportunity to convince Mourinho that he deserves a more significant role. His international performances have highlighted his potential, but consistency at club level remains essential to improving his standing.
