UCL Table After Manchester United Beat AS Roma 3-2

According to a report by BBC SPORT on Tuesday November 3, 2026, Manchester United staged a remarkable second-half comeback to defeat AS Roma 3-2 after recovering from a two-goal deficit in their Champions League encounter.

Michael Carrick's side struggled during the opening period but showed tremendous character after the break, scoring three unanswered goals to secure an important victory.

Roma made a bright start and took the lead in the 11th minute through Matias Soule. The forward received a brilliant lofted pass from Rodrigo Mora before finding the bottom-right corner with an excellent finish that left Senne Lammens with no chance.

Manchester United attempted to respond, but Roma continued to threaten their opponents. Their advantage doubled in the 17th minute after referee Jesus Manzano awarded them a penalty for a handball involving Ayden Heaven inside the box. Donyell Malen stepped forward and confidently converted the spot kick to make it 2-0.

United struggled to find a breakthrough before the interval. Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha attempted to create opportunities, while Kobbie Mainoo came close to scoring shortly before half-time. However, Roma goalkeeper Devis Vasquez produced an important save to preserve his team's two-goal advantage.

The hosts returned with greater determination after the break. Carlos Baleba was forced off through injury in the 51st minute, but United continued pushing forward. Their persistence paid off when Gianluca Mancini committed a foul inside the penalty area.

Bruno Fernandes initially saw his penalty saved by Vasquez in the 57th minute, but the referee ordered a retake following an infringement. The United captain made no mistake with his second attempt, sending the ball into the roof of the net to reduce the deficit.

Bryan Mbeumo almost equalised in the 59th minute, but his effort struck the left post. United eventually found their second goal in the 83rd minute when Fernandes delivered an excellent cross for Matheus Cunha, who finished accurately into the bottom-right corner.

The comeback was completed three minutes later. Shea Lacey supplied Cunha with a precise pass inside the penalty area, allowing the Brazilian forward to beat Vasquez with a composed finish and give United a 3-2 lead.

Cunha received a second yellow card in stoppage time, leaving United with ten men. However, Roma could not find an equaliser as Carrick's side held on for a memorable victory.
