Manchester United Star Ruled Out With Injury Until January

According to a report by Metro on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Manchester United expect Benjamin Sesko to remain out of action until at least January as the striker continues his recovery from a shin injury that has kept him away from the pitch.

The Slovenia international joined United from RB Leipzig in 2025 for a reported £74 million, but he has struggled to make the expected impact since arriving at Old Trafford. Sesko has not started a Premier League match this season and has not featured for the club since the derby defeat against Manchester City in September.

Manchester United believe the 23-year-old needs more time to recover from the injury before he can return to training and build up the match fitness required to play regularly again.

The latest shin problem is separate from the injury that brought his 2025/26 campaign to an early end and also prevented him from taking part in United's pre-season preparations. His latest setback is another disappointment for the striker, who has been trying to establish himself at Old Trafford after his expensive move from Germany.

Sesko's absence will be a concern for manager Michael Carrick, who needs enough attacking options as United look to improve their performances in the Premier League. The forward was expected to bring goals, physical strength and a strong presence in the box, but his injury problems have made it difficult for him to settle into the team.

The striker also struggled during the period when former manager Ruben Amorim was in charge, as several players found it difficult to deliver consistent performances. His latest injury means he will have to wait longer for another opportunity to prove his quality and win the confidence of the supporters.

United will now hope Sesko makes a full recovery without suffering another setback, although the club are expected to be cautious with his rehabilitation. If he remains unavailable until January, the Red Devils could be without the striker for several more important matches as they continue their campaign.
