According to a report by Metro on Sunday November 1, 2026, AS Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini has expressed confidence in his team's attacking strength ahead of their Champions League meeting with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
Roma head into the encounter in impressive form after extending their unbeaten run in Serie A to 10 matches with a convincing 5-2 victory over Udinese on Saturday.
The Italian side have scored 28 goals in their opening 10 league fixtures, setting a new club record for the number of goals scored at this stage of a Serie A campaign.
Former Aston Villa forward Donyell Malen has been particularly impressive, finding the net eight times in the league so far this season.
The Dutch striker has scored 11 goals in 12 appearances across all competitions, making him one of the standout performers in Gasperini's squad.
However, the Roma manager believes his team's success is not dependent on Malen alone, pointing to the number of players contributing goals and assists.
Speaking after the victory over Udinese, Gasperini said the variety of goalscorers in his team was evidence of the confidence within the squad.
"Sometimes the numbers do tell you the story," he said. "Besides scoring lots of goals, we're also scoring with many different players.
"That shows how much confidence there is in the team: lots of players believe they can make a decisive contribution, be it with an assist or a goal. We're scoring more goals with more players and that's a great sign."
Portuguese teenager Rodrigo Mora and defender Daniele Ghilardi were among the players who got on the scoresheet against Udinese.
Gasperini also praised the attitude of his squad, highlighting the willingness of his younger players to learn and improve.
"I'm lucky to have all my players – even the not-so-young ones – who really listen to me," he added.
Roma's confidence contrasts sharply with the situation at Manchester United, who are enduring a difficult period under manager Michael Carrick.
United suffered a 2-0 defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, extending their winless run in all competitions to nine matches.
The result left the Red Devils 17th in the Premier League table, while they have collected just three points from their opening three Champions League fixtures.
Lisandro Martinez was also sent off during the defeat, adding to Carrick's problems ahead of the visit of the Italian side.
Carrick is expected to remain in charge for Tuesday's meeting, but another disappointing result could increase the pressure on the Manchester United manager.
Roma, meanwhile, will travel to Old Trafford believing their impressive attacking form gives them a strong opportunity to trouble the struggling hosts.
