Former Super Eagles captain and coach Sunday Oliseh has shared the unusual circumstances that brought him together with his Moroccan wife, Hafida, revealing how a chance meeting at a music store more than three decades ago blossomed into a lasting marriage.

According to a report by Daily Post on Thursday, October 29, 2026, the Nigerian football icon recounted the story during an interview on The Play Zone podcast, where he reflected on how he first encountered his wife in 1994.

Oliseh disclosed that their meeting happened during the summer when he visited a music shop in Tong, approximately 30 minutes from his residence, to purchase a CD.

While searching through the R&B music collection, he noticed Hafida entering the shop after heavy rainfall forced her to interrupt her bicycle journey.

The former midfielder admitted that he was immediately captivated by her appearance and felt compelled to approach her.

Recalling the moment, Oliseh explained that he instantly recognised something special about her and decided to compliment her beauty.

He said: “Then I saw her, and I said to myself that this one can’t go. Then I said to her how come you’re this beautiful?”

According to the former Super Eagles coach, that spontaneous comment became the starting point of a relationship that has endured for more than 30 years.

Oliseh and Hafida have remained together since 1994 and are blessed with two children, Denzel and Shanice.

Throughout their relationship, Hafida has supported the Nigerian football legend during different stages of his professional journey, including his successful playing career in Europe.

Oliseh represented several top European clubs, including Ajax, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund, before moving into coaching and football analysis following his retirement.

He also served as head coach of the Nigerian national team, having previously captained the Super Eagles during his playing days.

His latest revelation has offered fans a glimpse into the personal life of one of Nigeria’s most respected football figures, showing how an ordinary visit to a music shop unexpectedly led to a relationship that has stood the test of time.
