Final U-17 Women’s World Cup Group B Table After Nigeria Beat North Korea 3-1

According to a report by Flashscore on Friday, October 23, 2026, Nigeria's Flamingos secured second position in Group B of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup following an impressive 3-1 victory over defending champions North Korea in their final group-stage encounter.

The result saw Nigeria complete their group-stage campaign with six points from three matches, having recorded two victories and one defeat. North Korea also accumulated six points, while Poland finished with the same number of points after winning their final match against Puerto Rico.

Despite suffering their first defeat of the competition, North Korea remained at the summit of Group B due to the tiebreaking criteria applied to the three teams that finished level on points.

The defending champions had previously demonstrated their attacking strength by defeating Puerto Rico 6-0 in their opening fixture before securing another convincing 6-1 victory against Poland.

However, Nigeria produced an outstanding performance in their final group match to end North Korea's unbeaten run and strengthen their chances of progressing further in the competition.

The Flamingos started the encounter with determination, knowing that a positive result was necessary after their earlier 2-1 defeat against Poland.

Oluwakemi Adegbuyi gave Nigeria the perfect start when she found the back of the net in the 15th minute, putting the West African side ahead.

Aishat Umejiaku doubled Nigeria's advantage in the 38th minute, ensuring that the Flamingos entered the halftime break with a comfortable two-goal lead.

Nigeria continued their impressive performance after the restart, with Queen Josephine Yusuf extending the advantage to 3-0 in the 56th minute.

North Korea eventually reduced the deficit through Yu Jong-hyang, who successfully converted a penalty in the 82nd minute. However, the late goal was insufficient to prevent Nigeria from securing a memorable victory.

Meanwhile, Poland concluded their group-stage campaign with an emphatic 6-2 victory over Puerto Rico, taking their points tally to six.

Although Poland recorded two wins, their heavy defeat against North Korea affected their position in the three-team tiebreaker, leaving them behind Nigeria in the final standings.

Puerto Rico finished at the bottom of Group B after losing all three matches. They failed to collect a point and conceded 14 goals throughout the group stage.

The final standings placed North Korea first with six points, followed by Nigeria in second position with six points. Poland occupied third place with six points, while Puerto Rico finished fourth without a point.

Nigeria's victory represented an important turnaround after their disappointing opening defeat against Poland. The Flamingos will now look to build on their impressive performance against North Korea as they prepare for the knockout stage of the tournament.
