UCL Table After Barcelona Lost 4:2, And Manchester City Won 5:1

According to a report by The Guardian on Tuesday October 20, 2026, the UEFA Champions League standings have experienced important changes following Paris Saint-Germain's 4-2 victory over Barcelona and Manchester City's emphatic 5-1 win against AEK Athens.

The two matches produced contrasting outcomes for the European heavyweights, with PSG strengthening their position at the top of the table while Manchester City collected three valuable points to improve their chances of finishing among the leading teams.

Barcelona suffered a disappointing night at the Parc des Princes after PSG demonstrated their attacking quality to secure all three points. Despite finding the net twice, the Spanish side could not prevent the French champions from scoring four goals.

The defeat leaves Barcelona with six points after three matches, having won their opening two fixtures before losing to PSG. They have dropped to fifth position in the standings, making their upcoming European fixtures increasingly important as they attempt to secure a place in the top eight.

PSG, meanwhile, have maintained their perfect record in the competition. Their victory takes them to nine points from three matches, placing them first in the standings with an impressive goal difference of plus nine.

Liverpool also have nine points after producing a remarkable comeback against Villarreal. The English club recovered from a two-goal deficit to claim a dramatic 4-3 victory at Anfield, keeping themselves level with PSG on points. However, the French champions remain ahead because of their superior goal difference.

Manchester City also made a strong statement by defeating AEK Athens 5-1. Phil Foden delivered an outstanding performance, scoring three goals as City bounced back from their previous defeat against PSG.

The result moves Manchester City to six points from three matches, leaving them sixth in the standings with a goal difference of plus four. The victory provides an important boost for Pep Guardiola's side as they look to secure direct qualification for the round of 16.

Stuttgart occupy third place with seven points, while Aston Villa sit fourth with six points from their opening two matches. Barcelona are fifth, followed by Manchester City in sixth position.

Other teams also collected important results on Tuesday night. Roma defeated Slovan Bratislava 4-0, Borussia Dortmund overcame Sabah 2-1, and PSV Eindhoven secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Porto.

Napoli recorded a thrilling 4-3 win over Bodø/Glimt, while Fenerbahçe and Slavia Prague shared the points after a 2-2 draw. Stuttgart and Atlético Madrid also played out a 1-1 draw.

The Champions League format means that teams finishing in the top eight after the league phase will advance directly to the round of 16. Clubs finishing between ninth and 24th place will enter the knockout-phase play-offs, while the remaining teams will be eliminated.

With three matches played by most of the teams involved on Tuesday, the race for qualification remains open. Barcelona will need to respond in their next fixture to avoid losing further ground, while Manchester City will hope their convincing victory marks the beginning of a consistent run of results.

Wednesday's Champions League matches could bring additional changes to the standings as several major European clubs prepare to continue their league-phase campaigns.
