According to a post on Le Marca Sports official X account on Tuesday October 27, 2026, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has returned to the top of the Turkish Süper Lig goalscorers’ chart after Orchestrating Galatasaray's victory over city rivals Fenerbahçe on Monday.
The 27-year-old scored twice to inspire the Turkish champions to a 2-1 victory over Fenerbahçe.
The Nigerian international’s latest brace took his league tally to eight goals this season, putting him level with Mohamed Salah and fellow Nigerian forward Gift Orban at the summit of the scoring standings.
Osimhen’s return to the top of the chart is particularly significant because he finished as the league’s leading scorer in his first season with Galatasaray during the 2024/25 campaign when he scored 26 league goals.
He subsequently missed out on the previous season’s goalscoring chart before resuming his pursuit of another Golden Boot this term.
The 27-year-old delivered a decisive performance at RAMS Park in Istanbul, netting twice in the first half to secure all three points for the reigning champions in the fiercely contested Istanbul derby.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 29th minute after combining with Barış Alper Yılmaz before firing into the top-right corner.
The Nigerian striker doubled Galatasaray’s advantage in the 44th minute, heading home after Davinson Sánchez’s effort was redirected towards goal following a long throw-in from Ismail Jakobs.
Fenerbahçe reduced the deficit through İrfan Can Kahveci in the 62nd minute, but Galatasaray held on to claim victory and strengthen their position in the title race.
The brace took Osimhen’s league tally to eight goals, placing him among the joint leaders in the Turkish Süper Lig scoring standings.
He shares the top position with Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah of Trabzonspor and Nigerian striker Gift Orban of Amed SK, who have also scored eight goals each.
Vedat Muriqi and Eldor Shomurodov follow closely with seven goals apiece.
The victory lifted Galatasaray to the top of the league standings with 22 points from nine matches.
With the campaign continuing, Osimhen will be looking to maintain his scoring form and challenge for a second Turkish Süper Lig Golden Boot after finishing as the league’s leading scorer in his debut season with Galatasaray.
