According to a report by Manchester Evening News on Thursday October 22, 2026, Bruno Fernandes' £4 million home in Cheshire was reportedly burgled by three masked men while the Manchester United captain was away in Italy for the club's Champions League clash against Como.
The incident happened at around 8.30pm on Wednesday, October 21, shortly after Manchester United suffered a disappointing 4-1 defeat against Como in the Champions League.
According to reports, three masked individuals were spotted in the rear garden of Fernandes' property in the Nether Alderley area. A neighbour noticed the suspicious activity and alerted the police.
The suspects are believed to have climbed over a fence at the rear of the property, which borders woodland, before entering the house and stealing several items. They reportedly spent less than five minutes inside before escaping ahead of the police's arrival.
Despite the property reportedly having an advanced security system, including alarms, CCTV and an electric gate, the intruders managed to get away. Fortunately, no members of Fernandes' family were inside the house at the time of the incident.
Cheshire Police confirmed that officers had responded to reports of suspicious activity and subsequently discovered that a burglary had taken place.
Detective Inspector David Jarvis, of Macclesfield Proactive CID, said the investigation was still in its early stages and officers were working to identify those responsible. Police have also appealed for information from anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area.
Manchester United are reportedly supporting Fernandes following the incident.
The burglary comes during a difficult period for United, who were heavily beaten by Como and are facing increasing scrutiny over their performances under manager Michael Carrick. Fernandes also attracted attention following comments that appeared to question the team's tactical approach and criticise the club's direction.
United are scheduled to return to Premier League action against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday, with Carrick under pressure to deliver a positive result.
