Mikel Arteta faces fresh injury concerns ahead of Arsenal's Premier League clash with Liverpool, with Riccardo Calafiori a major doubt for Sunday's trip to Anfield.
According to a report by Football London on Thursday, 29 October 2026, the Italian defender's availability remains uncertain after he struggled with an apparent injury during Arsenal's recent victory over Everton.
Calafiori was surprisingly left out of the starting lineup against Everton and managed only 22 minutes after coming on as a substitute.
His discomfort forced Noni Madueke to finish the match at left-back, while the defender was later seen holding his hip and stomach.
Arsenal are yet to establish the precise nature of the problem, leaving Arteta waiting for further clarity before deciding whether Calafiori can feature against Liverpool.
The potential absence comes at a difficult time for the Gunners, who are preparing for a crucial encounter in the Premier League title race after suffering a disappointing Carabao Cup exit against Fleetwood Town.
Bukayo Saka is another major absentee, with the England international not expected to return until early December at the earliest following a quadriceps injury. His absence represents a significant setback for Arsenal's attacking options.
William Saliba is also expected to remain unavailable until after the international break, despite making progress in his recovery. Arsenal are taking a cautious approach to the French defender's rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, Mikel Merino is hoping to return after missing Tuesday's cup fixture because of illness. The midfielder was initially expected to feature but was left out of the travelling squad.
There is more optimism surrounding Declan Rice and Madueke. Rice missed the Fleetwood encounter after appearing to suffer a hamstring problem against Everton.
While Madueke was sidelined by an ankle injury. Both players could be available for Sunday's match if they avoid further complications.
Christos Tzolis is another potential option, although the winger faces a race against time to recover from the hamstring injury he sustained on international duty. His participation remains uncertain as he continues his rehabilitation.
Arsenal will also be without Max Dowman if his suspension stands following the rejection of the club's appeal against his straight red card for violent conduct against Fleetwood.
