According to a report published by Metro on Friday, October 23, 2026, Erling Haaland has been declared fully fit and available for Manchester City’s Premier League encounter against Aston Villa after recovering from a knock sustained during the team’s victory over Ipswich Town.
The Norwegian striker was rested during Manchester City’s 5-1 Champions League triumph over AEK Athens on Tuesday night, remaining an unused substitute as manager Enzo Maresca decided against taking any unnecessary risks with his fitness.
Haaland had scored twice in City’s 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town on Saturday before suffering a knock during the match. The incident raised concerns about whether he would be fit enough to feature in the upcoming Premier League fixture.
However, Maresca has now confirmed that the prolific forward is available for selection ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Aston Villa, providing a timely boost to City as they seek to maintain their impressive form.
Speaking after the Champions League victory over AEK Athens, the manager addressed the fitness situations of several players being assessed before the weekend’s match.
“They could all be available or not. There are still doubts,” Maresca said. “Erling is the only one who is 100 per cent available and for the other three we need to wait.”
Nico O’Reilly, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes remain uncertain for the trip, with the club continuing to monitor their respective conditions before making final decisions on their availability.
Haaland’s return is particularly important for Manchester City, given his contribution to the team’s attacking strength. City currently enjoy a three-point lead over second-placed Arsenal and will be determined to protect their advantage in the Premier League standings.
Meanwhile, Phil Foden has also emerged as a key figure following a remarkable run of performances. The England international scored a hat-trick against AEK Athens, taking his tally to four goals across his last two appearances.
His recent displays have further strengthened his importance to Maresca’s plans, with the manager reportedly holding several discussions with the midfielder since taking charge to emphasise his value to the squad.
With Haaland declared fit and Foden delivering consistently in front of goal, Manchester City will approach their clash against Aston Villa with renewed confidence as they aim to extend their winning run and strengthen their position at the summit of the Premier League.
