According to a report by Barca Universal on Monday November 2, 2026, Yassir Zabiri's impressive performances in Spain have earned him comparisons with Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal from his former coach, Mimoun Mokhtari, amid reports linking the Moroccan forward with Barcelona.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed an excellent start to the season, attracting attention with his goalscoring ability and overall attacking qualities.

Barcelona have increasingly focused on recruiting promising young talents under the guidance of sporting director Deco and Joao Amaral. Although La Masia remains an important part of the club's development strategy, the recruitment department has also explored opportunities outside their academy.

The Catalan giants have recently invested in young prospects such as Hamza Abdelkarim, Jesse Bisiwu and Patricio Pacifico. Zabiri is another emerging talent who has reportedly caught their attention following his impressive displays for Racing Santander.

Speaking about the Barcelona links, his former coach, Mimoun Mokhtari, admitted that the reports did not surprise him. He previously worked with the striker at Mohammed VI Academy and Union Touarga, giving him a close understanding of the youngster's abilities.

Mokhtari believes Zabiri's performances and statistics place him close to established attacking talents such as Mbappe and Yamal in certain areas. The Moroccan has already scored eight goals in 10 La Liga appearances this season while on loan from Rennes.

He also praised the youngster's finishing ability, describing him as a hardworking forward with an exceptional instinct inside the penalty area. According to the coach, Zabiri possesses the ability to convert nine out of ten opportunities when presented with chances in dangerous positions.

Mokhtari further highlighted his intelligent movement, explaining that he understands when to attack spaces, get behind defenders and request the ball in open areas.

These qualities could make him an interesting addition to Barcelona's attack, particularly as the club considers options for the future. However, his continued performances and the potential transfer fee could determine whether Barcelona pursue his signing in an upcoming window.
