According to a report by OwnGoalNigeria on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has set a new personal record in Turkish football after scoring during Bursaspor’s 4-2 victory over Keçiörengücü. The Nigerian international continued his outstanding form by finding the net for the 12th consecutive Turkish league appearance, surpassing his previous record of scoring in 11 successive matches.
Iheanacho delivered his crucial contribution in the 50th minute at Aktepe Stadium, restoring Bursaspor’s lead at 3-2 after an entertaining first half. Both sides had scored twice before the interval, producing an exciting contest between the two teams.
Keçiörengücü initially moved ahead in the seventh minute following an own goal by Emirhan Başyiğit. However, Bursaspor responded through Amine Boutrah, who equalized eight minutes later. Lewis Baker subsequently put the home side ahead in the 35th minute, but Oğuzcan Çalışkan ensured the visitors entered half-time on level terms by scoring two minutes before the break.
Five minutes after the restart, Iheanacho restored Bursaspor’s advantage with another important finish. Lincoln Henrique then scored in the 66th minute to secure a convincing 4-2 victory for the visitors.
The latest strike increased Iheanacho’s tally to 16 goals in the Turkish second division this season, further highlighting his importance to Bursaspor’s campaign. His remarkable consistency has also helped the club climb to the top of the league standings, strengthening its hopes of securing promotion to Turkey’s top division.
The former Leicester City and Celtic forward joined Bursaspor on a free transfer from Celtic during the summer. Since arriving in Turkey, the striker has enjoyed an impressive revival, rediscovering his goalscoring touch and attracting renewed attention through his performances.
His club form has also benefited Nigeria’s national team. Iheanacho scored the opening goal for the Super Eagles during their 3-3 international friendly draw against Russia on October 6. His performances have subsequently earned him a place in Nigeria’s squad for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Tanzania.
With his scoring streak now extended to 12 consecutive league matches, Iheanacho will aim to maintain his momentum and help Bursaspor achieve its promotion ambitions. His continued contributions could also prove valuable as Nigeria prepares for its upcoming international fixtures.
