According to a post on X by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Nigeria’s U-15 boys, the Future Eagles, recorded an emphatic 7-0 victory over New Caledonia at the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The Nigerian youngsters delivered an impressive attacking performance at the Hovsan Competition Complex, with Timothy Ijachi scoring a hat-trick, Abdulrazak Muhammad netting twice, while Wisdom Oche and Mayowa Salu also got on the scoresheet.
The result extended Nigeria’s unbeaten run in the competition to six matches, having recorded two victories and four draws since the tournament began.
The Future Eagles entered the knockout phase after finishing third in Group AD with seven points from five matches. They recorded one win and four draws during the opening stage to secure a place in Tier C of the inaugural competition.
Oche opened the scoring against New Caledonia in the early stages before Ijachi took centre stage with two goals in quick succession.
The forward found the back of the net in the 12th minute to extend Nigeria’s advantage before completing his brace four minutes later, putting the Future Eagles firmly in control of the encounter.
Muhammad subsequently increased the lead with Nigeria’s fourth goal in the 21st minute, further underlining the team’s attacking superiority.
Ijachi continued his impressive performance by completing his hat-trick in the 35th minute, giving the Nigerian youngsters an unassailable advantage.
Muhammad then registered his second goal four minutes later to make it six for Nigeria, while Salu added another in the closing stages to complete the 7-0 rout.
The victory represents another encouraging performance for head coach Patrick Bassey’s side, who have shown considerable attacking promise throughout the competition.
Captain Ijachi has been among Nigeria’s standout performers in Baku, having also scored in the group-stage matches against Cyprus and Pakistan. His hat-trick against New Caledonia further highlighted his importance to the team.
The FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival features an eight-a-side format, with matches played over two 20-minute halves. Rather than eliminating teams after the group stage, the tournament uses performance-based tiers to determine the next phase of fixtures.
Following their victory over New Caledonia, the Future Eagles will look to maintain their momentum against the Republic of Benin as they continue their campaign in the Tier C knockout bracket. The Nigerian youngsters will hope to build on their convincing win and finish the inaugural tournament on a positive note.
