Kane Edges Out Yamal to Top Marca’s 2025-26 Players Ranking 3 Days Ahead of Ballon d’Or Ceremony

According to a report by Vanguard on Friday, October 23, 2026, Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has emerged as the top-ranked player in Spanish newspaper Marca’s annual Top 100 Players list for the 2025-2026 season, finishing ahead of Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé.

The England international claimed first position in the ranking released on Friday, three days before the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony scheduled for Monday.

Yamal secured second place, while Mbappé completed the top three in a list featuring some of the biggest names in world football.

Marca’s annual ranking was compiled with contributions from more than 200 former players, journalists and football analysts from different parts of the world. The panel assessed players’ performances for their clubs and national teams during the season.

Kane’s position at the summit places him ahead of several prominent contenders for individual recognition as the football world turns its attention to the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Manchester City midfielder Rodri occupied fourth place, followed by Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in fifth.

Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi secured sixth position, maintaining his presence among the leading players despite continuing his career outside European football.

PSG midfielder Fabián Ruiz finished seventh, while Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise came eighth.

France international Ousmane Dembélé, who plays for PSG, took ninth place, with Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsí completing the top 10.

The ranking reflects the range of talent across Europe's leading clubs, alongside established stars competing in other leagues.

Real Madrid had several representatives on the list, although none of its players featured in the top three.

England midfielder Jude Bellingham finished 15th, ahead of Brazilian forward Vinícius Júnior, who occupied 22nd position.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was ranked 28th, while Turkish midfielder Arda Güler finished 47th.

Mbappé was the club’s highest-ranked player, taking third place behind Kane and Yamal.

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo, who represents Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, secured 33rd position. His teammate João Félix finished 70th.

The inclusion of Messi and Ronaldo among the ranked players also highlights the continued presence of football's established superstars, even as a younger generation increasingly attracts attention.

Barcelona enjoyed a strong showing in the ranking, with several members of its squad securing places among the leading players.

Brazilian winger Raphinha finished 13th, while Spanish midfielder Pedri occupied 14th position.

Forward Ferran Torres came 17th, followed by attacking midfielder Dani Olmo in 21st place.

Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García was ranked 42nd, while defender Eric García finished 55th.

Yamal's second-place finish made him Barcelona's highest-ranked player on the list, underlining his standing among the leading young talents in world football.

Cubarsí's appearance in the top 10 also highlighted the growing recognition of Barcelona's younger players.

Paris Saint-Germain recorded a notable presence among the highest-ranked footballers, with Kvaratskhelia, Ruiz and Dembélé all featuring in the top 10.

Other PSG players included Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi, who finished 20th, alongside Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, João Neves, Marquinhos and Willian Pacho.

The ranking also extended beyond Europe's major leagues, with Messi representing Inter Miami in Major League Soccer and Ronaldo featuring for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

Marca’s Top 10 Players for 2025-2026:

• Harry Kane — Bayern Munich

• Lamine Yamal — Barcelona

• Kylian Mbappé — Real Madrid

• Rodri — Manchester City

• Khvicha Kvaratskhelia — Paris Saint-Germain

• Lionel Messi — Inter Miami

• Fabián Ruiz — Paris Saint-Germain

• Michael Olise — Bayern Munich

• Ousmane Dembélé — Paris Saint-Germain

• Pau Cubarsí — Barcelona

Kane’s position at the top of Marca’s ranking adds another talking point ahead of the Ballon d’Or ceremony, where football fans will turn their attention to the individual awards recognising the sport’s leading performers.

However, Marca’s Top 100 is a separate ranking and should not be confused with the official Ballon d’Or results. The Spanish newspaper’s list offers its own assessment of the season, while the Ballon d’Or follows a separate voting process to determine its winners.
