According to a report by Madrid Universal on Tuesday October 20, 2026, Real Madrid have announced their squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against RB Leipzig at the Santiago Bernabéu, with Vinícius Júnior returning to the team.

According to Madrid Universal, the Brazilian forward is back in the squad after missing Real Madrid’s La Liga victory over Sevilla because of a four-match domestic suspension. The suspension does not apply to Champions League matches, making him available for selection against the Bundesliga side.

Vinícius is expected to start against Leipzig, providing a major boost to José Mourinho’s attacking options. His pace, dribbling ability and creativity could prove important as Madrid look to maintain their perfect start to the European campaign.

Another notable inclusion is Éder Militão, who has returned to the squad after recovering from injury. The Brazilian defender made his comeback over the weekend, and his availability gives Mourinho another option at the back.

However, Raúl Asencio and Rodrygo Goes remain unavailable because of injuries, while Ferland Mendy misses out because he is not registered for the Champions League.

Real Madrid have won their opening two European fixtures against Inter Milan and AS Roma. They will now aim to make it three consecutive victories when they welcome Leipzig to the Bernabéu.

The encounter also comes just days before their highly anticipated El Clásico against Barcelona, meaning Mourinho may have to consider player fitness and workload when selecting his starting eleven.

One of the main selection questions concerns the right-back position, with Federico Valverde, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Denzel Dumfries among the options available to the manager.

While Vinícius’s return strengthens Madrid’s attacking threat and Militão’s inclusion provides additional defensive depth, the final starting lineup remains to be seen.

Madrid will hope to secure another important European victory before turning their attention to Sunday’s showdown with Barcelona.
