EPL Table Ahead This Weekend Matches

According to a report by BBC Sports on Thursday, October 29, 2026, the English Premier League title race is becoming increasingly competitive as clubs prepare for another important round of fixtures this weekend.

Following the conclusion of Matchweek Eight, Manchester City remain at the top of the Premier League standings, although Arsenal are putting considerable pressure on the defending title contenders.

Manchester City occupy first position with 21 points from eight matches, having recorded seven victories and one defeat. Their superior goal difference of +11 keeps them ahead of Arsenal, who also have 21 points after winning seven of their opening eight league encounters.

Arsenal sit second with a goal difference of +8, making the battle for first position particularly interesting ahead of the next round of matches.

Brighton occupy third position with 16 points, having secured five victories, one draw and two defeats. Liverpool follow in fourth place with 15 points, while Chelsea complete the top five with 13 points.

Brentford are sixth with 11 points, followed by Leeds United in seventh position with the same number of points.

Newcastle United occupy eighth place with 11 points, while Aston Villa sit ninth, also having collected 11 points from eight matches.

Hull City complete the top ten with 10 points, ahead of Everton and Ipswich Town, who occupy 11th and 12th positions respectively with 10 points each.

Bournemouth are 13th with nine points, while Tottenham Hotspur sit 14th with the same number of points.

Fulham occupy 15th position with eight points, followed by Manchester United in 16th place with seven points.

Manchester United have endured a difficult start to the campaign, managing just one victory, four draws and three defeats from their opening eight league fixtures.

Crystal Palace are 17th with seven points, while Nottingham Forest occupy 18th position with six points.

Coventry City sit 19th with six points, leaving Sunderland at the bottom of the standings with five points.

Attention now turns to the upcoming Premier League fixtures, with Chelsea scheduled to host Manchester United on Saturday, October 31.

Manchester City will face Brighton in another important encounter, while Tottenham Hotspur take on Crystal Palace.

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Arsenal will meet on Sunday, November 1, in a highly anticipated clash that could have significant implications for the title race.

With Manchester City and Arsenal currently level on points, the upcoming matches could produce changes at the top of the standings.

The battle for European qualification and the fight to avoid relegation are also expected to intensify as clubs seek valuable points during Matchweek Nine.
