PSG Face UEFA Punishment After Barcelona Complain Over ‘Parisian Massacre’ Tifo

According to a report by Barca Universal on Thursday October 22, 2026, after Barcelona brought attention to a contentious banner flown by PSG fans prior to their 4-2 Champions League triumph at the Parc des Princes, the French club may be subject to disciplinary action from UEFA.

Possible outcomes of the incident include monetary fines, partial stadium closures, or warnings about potential sanctions in the future.

Mundo Deportivo reports that after Barcelona filed a formal complaint, UEFA is expected to investigate the incident. The French champions will not yet know the exact nature of their punishment from the governing body.

A banner showing hands destroying Barcelona's crest with a chainsaw was unveiled by PSG supporters prior to kickoff, sparking the controversy. Additionally, the words "Parisian Massacre" were displayed on the screen.

It was reported that other banners displayed the insulting phrase "Puta Barça" throughout the match. Barcelona expressed its disapproval of the displays and promised to notify UEFA of the incident.

According to the Spanish club, such images go against the spirit of football, which is all about fair play and mutual respect. As a result of the complaint, PSG's fan behavior during the high-profile European match is being investigated.

The Disciplinary Code of the Union of European Football Associations forbids actions that bring disrepute to the sport or the organization. Additionally, the rules state that the host club is liable for the safety of their stadium and its surrounding area before, during, and after the match.

Unless the club can prove they were not careless in arranging the match, they may be subject to disciplinary action for incidents involving their fans. Provocative statements that are insulting, political, ideological, or religious in character are also forbidden by UEFA at sporting events.

The governing body may have grounds to sanction PSG over the controversial display if these rules are followed. What UEFA decides about the club's possible punishment, though, is up in the air.

At this time, PSG can only wait for the investigation's verdict. Additional stadium-related actions are still up in the air, but a monetary fine is a distinct possibility.
