According to a report by Channels Television on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Nigeria's Flamingos have reached the final of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup for the first time in history after recording an impressive 3-1 victory over Brazil in their semi-final encounter in Morocco.
The Nigerian youngsters produced an outstanding second-half performance to overcome their South American opponents and move within one victory of winning their maiden title in the competition.
After a goalless first half, the Flamingos returned with greater attacking determination and eventually broke the deadlock in the 56th minute through Queen Joseph.
The forward finished off an excellent assist from Oluwakemi Adegbuyi to give Nigeria the advantage and reward their improved attacking display.
The goal increased the confidence of the Nigerian players, who continued to put pressure on Brazil in search of another breakthrough.
Their efforts paid off in the 71st minute when Awawu Bashiru doubled the advantage. Queen Joseph turned provider on this occasion, setting up her teammate to score Nigeria's second goal of the encounter.
Bashiru was not finished, however, as she completed her brace in the 80th minute to put the Flamingos firmly in control.
The forward converted a pass from Oluebube Umejiaku to make it 3-0, leaving Brazil with a difficult task in the closing stages.
Brazil eventually found the back of the net in the 89th minute through Greise Kelly, who converted an assist from Yasmin Queiroz.
However, the late consolation goal was insufficient to change the outcome as Nigeria comfortably protected their advantage to secure a historic victory.
The result sends the Flamingos into their first-ever FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup final, surpassing their previous best achievement of finishing third in the 2022 edition.
Nigeria will now face Japan in Saturday's final after the Asian nation defeated defending champions North Korea in the other semi-final to secure their place in the title-deciding encounter.
The Flamingos' journey to the final has been particularly impressive considering their opening 2-1 defeat to Poland in the group stage.
They recovered with victories over Puerto Rico and North Korea before eliminating Mexico in the round of 16 and Venezuela in the quarter-finals.
Their triumph over Brazil represents another major milestone for Nigerian women's football, with the youngsters now having an opportunity to win the country's first-ever U-17 Women's World Cup title.
