Seamus Coleman explains why Chelsea ace Morgan Rogers reminds him of Dele Alli

According to a report by Football London on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, Chelsea forward Morgan Rogers has been compared to former Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli by Everton legend Seamus Coleman following his impressive start at Stamford Bridge.

Coleman believes Rogers has similarities to Alli, particularly in the attacking runs he makes into dangerous positions.

Rogers scored a brilliant individual goal in Chelsea's 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Saturday, taking his tally to six goals and four assists in all competitions this season.

The England international joined Chelsea from Aston Villa for a British-record £117 million fee and has quickly established himself as an important attacking option under Xabi Alonso.

Speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football alongside Jamie Carragher, Coleman explained how Rogers' movement makes life difficult for opposition defenders.

The former Everton captain highlighted the Chelsea forward's ability to exploit the space between the right-back and right centre-back, comparing his movement to the runs Alli regularly made during his Tottenham career.

Coleman said: “He reminds me of that run I used to defend against Dele Alli when he played for Tottenham.”

Carragher also praised Rogers' finishing ability, noting that the 24-year-old has shown versatility in the different types of goals he scores.

Rogers has scored all five of his Premier League goals from positions slightly left of centre, underlining his effectiveness in finding space around the penalty area.

The comparison will be encouraging for Chelsea supporters as Rogers continues to develop under Alonso, with his movement, creativity and goalscoring ability making him an increasingly influential figure in the team's attack.
